MOT's
What is an MOT?
If your car, light van or bike is over 3 years old by law you are required to have an annual safety check conducted by a VOSA qualified professional, this safety check is commonly known as an MOT (Ministry Of Transport) test and ensures your vehicle is fit for the road for the following 12 months. This involves a series of checks in and around the vehicle the result of which will determine whether your car is safe or not and you will be issued a certificate to prove it.

What to remember before your MOT
One of biggest causes of MOT failure is a blown bulb or worn windscreen wiper, both of which most people are fully capable of replacing at a minimal cost, both these things should be checked on a regular basis. Tyres are also a major cause of failure and any tyres below the legal minimum of 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread will fail and should be replaced before your MOT. And finally a crack in your windscreen could cause an MOT failure, most comprehensive insurance cover will cover repair or replacement without affecting your no claims bonus.
